Do you work with the government of Romania or any other country?

We are a member of the Combined Federal Campaign in the USA, but we do not work with any government. Our international chapter, Animal Spay Neuter International, applies for local government permits in order to be able to work in different countries around the world, but we don't have any working contracts with the governments of those countries nor do we receive any government funding.

Why do you focus on Romania?

The ex-communist country of Romania is one of the poorest in Eastern Europe. An acute lack of veterinary services and wide spread poverty, coupled with corrupt and inefficient animal control management make Romania home to an ever increasing stray animal population, topping 2 million dogs and cats. There has never been more need for the work that we do than now.
