Dear Romania Animal Rescue Supporters and Friends,
I would like to begin by thanking so many of you who reached into your pockets helped us to continue our vital work in Romania. We are making plans for campaigns in September now thanks to your support! Our spay/neuter program helped in the Bucharest Peasant Village of Lunari in July, a new location for the RAR team, and we were able to return there as well. Humane Society International granted funds for a mobile spay caravan that we will purchase, enabling us to reach more of the peasant villages that have no vets or help for the animals. The work of the Homeless Animals Hospital continues on a daily basis, helping the animals that would otherwise have nowhere to turn, as well as impoverished people who want to care for their animals but cannot afford to do so. Thanks to you, this campaign is able to help so many.
Our sister charity, Animal Spay Neuter International, is now a registered UK charity. In the USA we are Romania Animal Rescue dba Animal Spay/Neuter International, charity number: 72-1546354. In the UK, we are Animal Spay/Neuter International, charity number 1157935.
On a personal note:
With love and respect,
July was the month when RAR travelled across the mountains into the heart of Transylvania to spay and neuter close to 250 animals. There is a wonderful feeling that surrounds the RAR spay and neuter events: People are enthusiastic about the care their animals get from our team and they have the faith to entrust us with their dear dog or cat. This is one of the most rewarding things at the end of the long working days: The feeling that you helped so many animals and that you generated a brighter future for so many animals that will not reproduce.
These animals are sometimes on a chain or in a poor family that has a hard time feeding itself. One thing that we miss working so hard for the animals is to see the nature around the villages. I shall make an album of my visit and post the link of photos and descriptions to the destinations so you can have a better understanding of the Romanian culture and nature.
Now our team is extremely worried about our friend Dr. Luana's health. She is in the hospital after a tragic accident. We do our work keeping her in our thoughts and hearts, sending her our positive energy so that she makes a full and speedy recovery. Thank you for supporting our work wishing you all the best for you and your beloved ones.
Dr. Aurelian Stefan, DVM

Dr. Triathlon Returns August 23
Dr. Aurelian Stefan is training for another triathlon on August 23. He will swim/cycle/run for Homeless Animals Hospital in memory of the dog Sasha. Sasha was a paralyzed dog that had received substandard veterinary care. By the time Homeless Animals Hospital discovered her it was too late. Sasha had to be put to sleep due to poor treatment and management of her amputations. Had Sasha received proper treatment for her legs, she most likely would be alive today, living in her adoptive home in the UK. Our anonymous donor is offering to match up to $3000 for Dr. A's Triathlon! Whatever amount we can raise collectively for Dr. A's triathlon entry, this donor will match with the same amount up to $3000. Here is your chance to get your donation doubled!
Our supporters have created several fundraising initiatives on Facebook. Here are a few:
Thank you, Ruth Osborne, for creating this new ad for RAR:
We visited Ramnicu Sarat to spay/neuter and help 100 animals and provided vaccines. We also helped our dear friend, Mrs. Miu, with veterinary care to 36 animals. Thank you donors, Sue Roberts, Maz N Horace, Sue Blythe, May-Britt Seem, Diane White, Tony Wilson-Ing, Ariane Coury and the many many others who have made this a successful venture for helping the animals!
Your donations come into action: a second chapter of the Bucharest Village spay and neuter campaign took place on saturday july 12th . 70 cats and dogs were spayed and neutered and there is already a waiting list for another 50 surgeries. Please help us help more and create a new tomorrow for so many dogs and cats!
We received this notice from the people of Vatra Dornei. It is more important than ever to sterilize dogs in Vatra Dornei now, lest they get thrown into the streets before this new law goes into effect.
Our mission is to support these projects to continue in Vatra Dornei. Please join our team as a volunteer during the two days of the campaign. Thank You Romania Animal Rescue, Inc., Thank You Nancy Janes!
REMEMBER: Under law No 258/year end 2014 every owner is obligated to sterilize dogs without pedigree.
You have every reason to bring the dogs to besterilized! Take advantage of this program and let your friends know it's free!
Since many of your have helped with our Vatra Dornei spays/neuters. I want to share this with you:
From: Alina Drakena
Thank you, Romania Animal Rescue for improving month by month the strays' situation in Vatra Dornei! To be frank, the difference is obvious, than other cities: the strays are fewer and fewer on the streets, you actually need to search for them closely, the streets are safer and more people have now their dogs neutered, less abandonment. Long term spay campaigns are the real solution for this 'stray problem'. Congratulation and thank you for the involvement!
And I thank you, wonderful and wise people for all you have done to make miracles happen!
While in Vatra Dornei, we took some time to hand out educational booklets to the local school.
The Tecuci spayathon provided spay/neuter for 74 animals! Thank you Dr. Petrisor Stefan, Aurelian Stefan, Anda Popescu, Mihaela Raducanu and all the great people who made this possible! Especially the donors! Also a big thank you for providing funds to help support the spay mission in Braila this past weekend. The RAR Dream Team was able to provide spay/neuter in one of the three locations set up by Dr. Rudi of Turbopet Cabinet Veterinar Mobil in Braila. It was great to work as a team united in the goal of stopping the births of unwanted animals that would end up abandoned!
In Adjud between 25-27 August, The Asociatia "Codite Fericite" ("Happy Tails" Association) from Adjud with RAR and The Town Hall help will organize another spay campaign. You can save thousands of dogs if you spay/neuter just one!
Homeless Animal Hospital provides animal care to street animals. Often, they are survivors of car accidents, emaciated, or infested with parasites.
Ranna and Her Puppies
Remember Ranna and her puppies? Rescued from the side of the road while the Dream Team was leaving from a spay campaign in Tecuci? Here they are!
Dog Hit by a Car
This small dog was hit by a car and brought into Homeless Animal Hospital for treatment. After surgery to pin her broken kind leg, she is now starting to recover. Please support our free veterinary treatment for this poor soul and so many others that need our help on a daily basis!
Special thank you to all our wonderful donors and friends. Many of you answered our desperate plea for help, and for this we are eternally grateful!
Thank yous to the whole Dream Team, Romania, USA, and UK.
