Why Spay/Neuter
Romania Animal Rescue Spay/Neuter Impact Pyramid

According to Dogs on Death Row and PETA, each unspayed female dog and her offspring can potentially produce up to 67,000 puppies in her seven-year lifespan. Granted, most of these puppies will not live to maturity, and will suffer the diseases that inflict great misery such as parvo, distemper, hepatitis, along with infestations of parasites and being involved in accidents. Romania Animal Rescue believes that the only effective and humane solution to control the overpopulation of dogs and cats is spay or neuter.

How We Do It
Romania Animal Rescue Spay/Neuter Technique

Our highly skilled vets have adapted and improved surgical techniques such as "keyhole incision" and "flank spay, which are less invasive allowing for a quicker recovery. These techniques allow the vets to perform many surgeries quickly, safely and following highest pre- and post-surgery standards.

What Is a Spayathon
Romania Animla Rescue _ Animal Spay Neuter International_Spay and Neuter_Spayathon Craiova 2016

A spayathon is a spay/neuter marathon where the team of our top vets and vet techs, along with local and foreign volunteers work together to spay/neuter dozens of dogs and cats.   These spayathons take place in different locations across the world where there is a need and at the request of local communities.  The majority of our spayathons take place in Romania where access to veterinary services is virtually non-existent.

Our Progress
May 2020 Spay Neuters Totals

Our priority has and remains spaying/neutering. From 2004, we have spayed/neutered over 83,944 dogs/cats, translating into millions of unwanted puppies and kittens saved from a miserable existance on the streets. Spaying/neutering also improves and prolongs the lives of adult dogs/cats by preventing certain forms of cancer, infections and birth complications.
